QUEENSCLIFF BOAT RAMP
Access: This is an excellent double ramp. It is fully protected
and has two jetties either side of the ramp. The shallowest it gets
is approx 0.8m and can cater for boats up to 7m. The ramp gives
access to both sheltered waters within Port Phillip Bay, and Port
Phillip Heads. Is at the end of the main street at Queenscliff (Melway
236 J4).
Parking: There is 'heaps' of parking however I have heard
of a few thefts trailers if you go fishing late at night.
Facilities: It also has two wash down facilities, toilets.
Fees: Parking fee of $6 for 24 hours.

BLACK ROCK BOAT RAMP
Access: Located off Beach Rd. on the foreshore of Black
Rock. It is and average ramp and is exposed when the winds come
from the North-west to the South-west. Width of the ramp is 5m.
The least depth of approach is about 0.3m, so it is best to launch
between half flood to half ebb. Max size boat to launch here would
be about 6m.
Facilities: This is a single concrete ramp which gives access
to some very good snapper grounds. There is a jetty beside the ramp
.Cafés within 100m of ramp.
Parking: Lots of parking but is very popular so you need
to get there very early.
Fees: There is a parking fee.

PORTLAND BOAT RAMP
Access: Portland has a large man made harbour with an excellent
double ramp with
superb launching facilities.
Facilities: There are temporary mooring facilities, toilet
block, a fish-cleaning table
Parking: Appropriate parking for vehicles with trailers
complements the ramp area
Fees: None Known.

POINT ALBERT BOAT RAMP
Access: The boat ramp is high and dry for around half the
tide cycle and local anglers launch their boats using tractors.
The turn off to Port Albert from the South Gippsland Highway is
clearly marked a few hundred metres east of the Albert River at
Alberton. It gives access, to both the ocean, and to the deep channel
system around Sunday Island and the shallower flats.
Facilities: There is a jetty along side the ramp.
Parking: Adequate

SORRENTO BOAT RAMP
Access: From Melbourne, follow the Nepean Highway onto the
Nepean Rd. It is a steep
ramp exposed to northerly winds, it is a double ramp. The max. size
boat to launch would be about 7m.
Facilities: There are jetties either side the ramp. It is
6m wide and has a least depth approach of 0.3m.
Parking: It has good parking facilities
Fees: None Known.

OCEAN GROVE BOAT RAMP
Access: The ramp is located at the end of Gutheridge Street,
Ocean Grove. It gives boats up to around 6 metres good access to
the Barwon River as well as outside through Barwon Heads if weather
permits (EXPERIENCE IS A MUST). The ramp is useable on all tides,
however care needs to be exercised on the lowest tides as it is
possible to reverse the trailer over the edge of the ramp.
Facilities: There is a floating pontoon for easy unloading,
however no washdown facilities are available.
Parking: The car-park is quite roomy.

MORNINGTON
Access: Main Street Mornington (From Nepean Highway). Double
Ramp with temporary mooring Jetty and fish cleaning table. Very
dangerous in North to Norwest winds, otherwise a safe harbour. Fine
for vessels to 6m at all tides. Expect a long wait to launch or
retreive at busy times (Oct to March) of up to 1 hour. Traffic is
terrible during summer months.
Facilities: Fish cleaning table but no boat washdown
Parking: Inadequate except during winter or periods of high
wind.
Fees: if any, $10.00 to park (if you're lucky enough to
find one), or $110.00 per year.

FISHERMANS BEACH MORNINGTON
Access: Follow the esplanade, south of mornington about
2 Ks. Double Ramp with no mooring Jetty. dangerous in west winds,
otherwise ok. Fine for vessels to 5.5m but fairly shallow. Short
channel to clear water with submerged reef either side. Quite busy
in peak season (Oct to March)
Facilities: none
Parking: Inadequate except during winter or periods of high
wind.
Fees: if any, $10.00 to park or $110.00 per year.

SCHNAPPER POINT MORNINGTON
Access: The road to the pier and ramp is accessible easily
from either the Esplanade or Nepean Highway. The road to the pier
and ramp is a continiuation of Main Street, which is marked by the
collection of fast food outlets (Mcdonalds, Pizza Hut, KFC, Hungry
Jacks, Red Rooster) at the intersections of Main Street and Nepean
Highway.
Facilities: There is a lovely swimming beach known as Mother's
Beach right next to the ramp and of course the main pier and smaller
jetties, fish cleaning table, yacht club, cafe, washing facilities
and a large park at the top of the hill with extensive playgrounds
for the kids, and of course the shops on Main St.
Parking: Ample parking is normally available, with car/trailer
parks near the ramp and car parks closer to the pier.
Fees: Daily- $10, Annual- $110. These fees include launching,
retrieving and parking. Parking officers patrol this section.

Other details: This ramp is deeper and has more parking
than the nearest ramp at Fisherman's beach, for the same price.
On holiday periods it may pay to plan launch and retrieval outside
peak times. During snapper season (Nov-March) it can be packed also.

AIRE RIVER, HORDEN VALE (35 km West of Apollo Bay)
Access: 2 points. one via Sand Road from the west (5km drive
2wd ok in dry) and the other from the east side of the river (better
ramp)
Facilities: basic camping (book during busy periods via
Cumberland shire), pit toilets both sides of river. Best ramp is
east side (dirt) good for tinnies to 4m. East - launch from the
bank - best during periods of high water. Tinnies to 4m.
Parking: East side - limited to 5 cars, west limited to
the amount of camping spots taken (busy - 5 cars, deserted - 50)
Fees: $8 per night for camping.

lanes. Both ramps good for boats to 6m.

LAKE ELINGAMITE, COBDEN
Access: Turn left (south) in Camperdown (1 1/2 hours west
of Geelong) and about 25km drive to Cobden (turnoff just out of
town)
Facilities: small wooden jetty, dirt ramp, can be very shallow
- do not wade VERY soft volcanic peat mud! There is a rope to aid
in pulling boats out. Max 4m tinnie

Access: Via Princess Highway, 35km west of Geelong, turn
right at end of town, then 11km drive to Block Lane, 1km to lake
(dirt road)
Facilities: shallow concrete ramp, useless in anything but
maximum (water) capacity for lake. Boat can be launched via (sand)
bank and 4WD in low water or boats to 5.5m when lake is full.
