A bit of a delayed report from April. Took the family to Fiji on a surf trip but threw in the 8 and 10 weight just in case. The surf was so good for 10 days that i never got the 10 weight out but as we could only surf high tides, I spent a few late arvo low tides at the mouth of the lagoon tossing around clousers while everyone else enjoyed a Fiji bitter (or 3.

My effort was appreciated though as i managed to provide a regular supply of Bluefin trevally sashimi to go with pre dinner drinks. i managed to get destroyed by a couple of bigger GTs on the coral heads to so it was good fun. mind you after 6 hours in the surf, the 2km round paddle on the ski to the mouth of the lagoon and back and an hour of casting the clouser meant i struggled to lift my Fiji bitter when i got back!

Saw an amazing sight in the surf one day with a free jumping sail of 60+kg leaping around just 50m away!

This is what reduced the fishing time

Great report Simon, how does the Bluefin Treva's go at Sashimi? Never tried them or any of the Trevally clan as sashimi.
