TRINIDAD
NARROW SPECIALS
For offshore anglers who are after a versatile reel that can handle
live-baiting, trolling, jigging, or casting hard-bodied minnows,
poppers and big Squidgies, Shimano’s Trinidad Narrow Specials
are well worth checking out.
There are two reels in this narrow-spool range - the 16N and the
40N. The smaller model has a 6.2:1 ratio and a line capacity of
225 metres of ten kilo mono, while the 40N has a 4.9:1 ratio and
holds 275 metres of 15.
Internally, there are six of Shimano’s patented A-RB bearings
and one stainless steel roller bearing keeping everything rolling
sweetly, a precision click star drag with Dartanium drag washers,
and an adjustable ratchet which can be cranked up for live baiting
- thereby preventing the bait from pulling line off the reel until
it gets eaten.
A big, comfy power handle makes winding a breeze, and the narrow
spool design and lack of a cross bar in the one piece machined aluminium
frame is particularly useful when deepwater jigging. This means
it’s not necessary to worry excessively about spreading the
line neatly across the spool during those wild gyrations and enthusiastic
sweeps of the rod. The presence of a Super Stopper anti-reverse
mechanism eases the strain on the internals during this energetic
style of fishing, and also eliminates back play in the handle.
Finally, a reel clamp is supplied as standard, as are tools to
perform basic maintenance functions.

- Ergonomic Power Handle
- Machined Aluminium Frame
