FISHING LODGE MANAGERS/HEAD GUIDE & HOSTESS

The Escape Sportfishing & Wilderness Lodge is located on Groote Eylandt, NT in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Groote Eylandt is the largest island situated in the Gulf and is 630km from Darwin by air. The Lodge is located in Alyangula on the northwest side of the island and the town has its own shopping mall, recreation and golf clubs, both with bar’s and bistro’s.

The Lodge has been operating for 2 years and provides guests with a unique, remote experience with excellent facilities and unforgettable fishing. We can accommodate up to 24 guests in twin or double share safari style accommodation, with all rooms boasting a private deck, with stunning water views.

We have a fleet of 5 x 8 metre boats and a new 50 foot live aboard that will make extended Barramundi trips to the Roper River, with our main fishing season being from late February to early December.

We cater for Australian and International guests and offer packages for individuals, groups and larger corporate groups. We have high expectations on delivering a friendly, courteous and professional standard of service to all clients.

The position is a package deal as lodge managers/head fishing guide and hostess. A generous remuneration package is offered, along with accommodation and all food provided. You will also be supported by a second couple based at The Lodge and a Business Development Manager, who is based in Darwin.

Duties for Head Guide include but are not limited to:

1. Guiding
2. Maintaining tackle and stock control
3. Boat maintenance
4. General maintenance
5. Co-ordinating and managing other guides

Duties for Head Hostess include but are not limited to:

1. Maintaining neat appearance of Lodge area at all times
2. Hosting guests on return from charters
3. Preparation and cooking of light snacks for guests
4. Office Duties
5. Cooking for staff
6. Some house-keeping required

The successful applicants must have Master 5, management experience, excellent supervision and communication skills, excellent understanding of boats and maintenance skills and be well organised. A good work ethic, along with being approachable and easy going are all pre-requisites for this position.
