Lowrance integrates Navionics® Platinum

Lowrance’s full range of 2007 chartplotter-equipped products is set to have future compatibility with Navionics® Platinum multi-dimensional electronic charting, for global bluewater navigation.

Lowrance firmware upgrades to run Navionics® Platinum will be available as a free download from Lowrance’s website in the first quarter of 2008.

Compatibility with Navionics® Platinum options, available on plug-and-play Secure Digital (SD) memory cards, represents the most extensive array of compatible product choices of any marine electronics brand. This includes all 2007 Lowrance LCX, LMS and GlobalMap® colour models, with 12.7, 17.8, 21.3 and 26.4cm displays.

Navico Australia’s director of sales and marketing Damien Weber said compatibility with Navionics® Platinum cartography would make Lowrance products even more user-friendly and functional.

“By including it for use on our full range of products, especially on widely-popular 12.7cm colour display models, we are further cementing Lowrance as one of the industry leaders in GPS navigational systems,” Mr Weber said.

Navionics® Platinum combines huge XL three-size coverage areas, including satellite and high-aerial photo overlays, 3D bathymetric views, plus satellite overlay on 2D and 3D charts.

In 2002, Lowrance was the first marine electronics brand to integrate with Navionics® to provide high-detail charting options, via plug-and-play MMC/SD memory card slots on its marine products.
